ICOR Resolution

After Trump’s election in the USA – ICOR stands ready for a global anti-fascist, anti-imperialist and pro-socialist United Front!

On November 6, 2024, Donald Trump won the presidential election in the USA and will enter the White House. Thus, at the head of the USA, the great imperialist power and the world’s main warmonger, is a president who is described from various angles as an ultra-reactionary, a right-wing populist or a fascist. This increases the danger of US im-perialism, which, whether under the Democrats or the Republicans, has always started wars and destroyed man and nature. With their aggressively reactionary program, the monopolies around Trump want above all to catch up in the rivalry with China. This has global political consequences for the mass of people around the world, especially in the event of a crisis and the threat of war.

Their program: General attack on workers, strikers must be able to be fired immediately; attacks on wages; acceleration of the global ecological catastrophe by a backflip on the few advances made in environmental policy, forced promotion of fossil fuels of oil and gas; intensification of inter-imperialist competition by the aggressive program “America first”; general attack on the working class, the revolutionary movement as well as the trade union movement and its rights; all registers of economic warfare with punitive customs duties of up to 100%; warmongering with threats against Iran, China and everything he calls “the axis of evil”; the Trump administration will continue Biden’s policy of genocide in Palestine and Lebanon and possibly plans to wage a military war against Iran. Racism taken to the extreme, with the planned deportation of eleven mil-lion immigrants. The program also includes closing borders, misogynistic policies, an attack on the already very inadequate social systems, discrimination against LGBTQ people, etc. etc. At the same time, the nationalist and chauvinistic program of the mo-nopolies behind Trump poses other problems for US imperialism itself, because it also depends on the most diverse international relations. Millions of people in the United States voted for Trump because of their anger at the decline in living standards, in-security and distrust of the bourgeois ruling class and international finance capital. Trump served their hopes demagogically by promising “safe jobs” and an end to arms deliveries to Ukraine. Thanks to an extremely undemocratic electoral law and billions of dollars in campaign funding, including from the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, part of the masses were convinced to support Trump through a social media campaign. Anti-communism and social-chauvinism have a dangerous influence on a part of the masses. The situation among the working class, the broad masses, is extremely pola-rized, which also represents a danger for the rise of the class struggle.
Already in 2017, the ICOR wrote in its resolution on Trump’s inauguration: “The co-ming to power of Donald Trump marks a general tendency of open reaction and has repercussions on world politics. … The development to the right of the new American government is the reaction to the search of the masses for an alternative to the existing system.” The ICOR supports the worldwide protests against Trump’s inauguration.
Today, after 8 years, the world situation is even more unstable, shaken by crises; the danger of a Third World War and the nuclear threat is even more tangible. The ecologi-cal catastrophe is a crisis that threatens the existence of humanity. The American mo-nopolies that stand behind Trump are united in their ultra-reactionary orientation. In addition to the oil and gas industry, this is mainly the high-tech industry, where Elon Musk already holds a leading position in close collaboration with the brutal govern-ment.
In contrast to eight years ago, the working class in the USA, but also in Europe, is today often polarized and divided, but it is also much more determined. This is what worries the monopolies and the imperialists, and this is why they are banking on a fas-cist to decompose the consciousness of the masses, especially the working class, and to suppress the class-conscious workers and revolutionaries. The strike of 30,000 Boeing workers, which has been going on for more than five weeks, is very significant, as is the three-day strike that has been carried out with great success.
