Press Statement
1. The PB meeting of the Nepal Communist Party (Mashal), held yesterday on September 12, issued a statement after analyzing in detail the recent Gen Z movement in the country, as well as the developments and destructive acts committed across the nation.
2. In yesterday’s statement, we made it clear that we would oppose any action such as the formation of a government outside the parliament or the dissolution of the parliament. Shortly after our statement, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was appointed Prime Minister, and the parliament was also dissolved. Our party strongly opposes both of these actions.
3. The royalists used all their power to steer the Gen Z movement in favor of their reactionary objectives. They were not completely successful in doing so, but the dissolution of the parliament has certainly advanced their reactionary agenda to some extent. Therefore, there is a need for a high level of vigilance to ensure that the formation of an interim government and the dissolution of the parliament do not serve the reactionary forces.
4. We have nothing personal against former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. However, we object to the manner in which the constitution was violated when she was appointed Prime Minister. Furthermore, her very first decision as Prime Minister—to recommend to the President the dissolution of the parliament—is one we strongly oppose.
